Manila only for a day and it’s raining cats and dogs. Bummer! Had to have my favorite Carrot Prince Muffin and Cafe Americano from the Royal Touch (Resorts World) to brighten the mood.

Today.

• Lovely fixtures on my way to breakfast
• The water’s too cold for me
• Spent a lazy afternoon with this view

Miguel dressed up as Robin Hood when he was barely 2 years old.

Fast forward to now and my not-so-little-baby is turning 6 in a couple of month’s time - that is two thousand one hundred ninety two days of stories, laughter, adventures, arguments, 6 kisses, bear hugs, unending questions, overflowing creativity and I love you’s.

Tuesday night, I met up with some college friends for an impromptu reunion at Ila Puti (IT Park, Cebu). Between seven people, we shared their Bibimbap, Beef Stroganov, Grilled Pork Belly, Phoenix Mandarin Salad and Grilled Chikari (my personal favorite).

The verdict? Even after 10 years, this place continues to be one of my go-to restaurants whenever I am in need of good food and chilled out ambience. The only disappointing part would be the inconsistency in service. On some days, the servers are ready and eager to serve with smiles, however, there are also times when service is irritably slow that it could take you up to 15 minutes to get a glass of water or get the bill.

I don’t know when we will see each other again or what the world will be like when we do. We may both have seen many horrible things, but I will think of you every time I need to be reminded that there is beauty and goodness in the world.- Arthur Golden, Memoirs of a Geisha

… and so there are lessons that you can’t get out of a book that are waiting for you at the other end of that flight.

Random shots from our 3D2N trip doing all tourist-y stuff in an attempt to disrupt the vicious cycle called routine.

SUMMER in August

…hair gets lighter, skin gets darker, water gets warmer, drinks get colder, nights get longer. Life gets better!

After being sick for over a week, Miguel insisted he needed legos and chocolates to completely feel better.

Oookay, Miguel.

After getting the TMNT mini-figures, I brought him to the Maitre Chocolatier Boutique Cafe (G/F Ayala Terraces) where he ordered the Golden Euphoria. I had an Americano to go with my Churros.

The verdict? Far from the crowd? Tick. Cozy Ambience? Tick. Offers a good view? Tick. Attentive service? Tick. Lastly - what could ever go wrong with chocolates?

Part two finally. I enjoyed this particular Sunday so much that I remembered about this link-up!

R E A D I N G the Comics section of the newspaper. I’ve minimized reading the rest of the spread, after realizing that we get to read more bad news than good. I want, I need Happy Thoughts!

L I S T E N I N G to Miguel as he entertains the entire team during our Island Hopping. He is one entertainer/controller fella. Makes me proud! The past week, I have also been listening to Sam Smith. His music is my current addiction.

T H I N K I N G whether I should try and taste the sea urchin which they’ve just scooped out of the ocean floor and cut in half. Debating would be the better term, remembering having read some news about fisherfolks dying after eating the sea urchins raw.

W A T C H I N G The Good, The Bad and The Weird. Enjoyed the humour and the interesting twist in the end. Then re-watched Maleficent. I love Angelina Jolie in this movie!

S M E L L I N G the salty seabreeze. I love the smell of ocean! Calms me.

W E A R I N G my favorite maxi dress which I bought five years ago.

L O V I N G the view from the Amisa towers. We missed the full sunset but the view is still awesome!

W A N T I N G some body massage and finally getting one. It had been a looong day starting with a 7am call time to jump off our Island Hopping adventure from Cordova. By 4pm, we were on a half-hour motorcycle ride to drop Miguel off at Shangri-la Resort. Which, to note, was on the other side of the island! By 5:30pm, went for a ride to catch the sunset at Amisa towers and by 6:30pm, rode all the way back to mainland Cebu to try out some Authentic Japanese Pizza. Whew!

The picture above is a collage of Ilocos’ delicious offerings - Vigan’s Longganisa, Pinakbet/Dinuguan Pizza and Tinubong.
