If you’re going to stay, stay forever.
Fujinoya Bakery Gourmet Coffee Bistro (Lahug, Cebu). I have been eyeing this Japanese place even before it opened after I saw its huge tarp right across Tazza Cafe and Patisserie.
Last Friday, we finally got the chance to drop by for dinner and coffee. We first ordered their best sellers, the Ton Katsu Curry and Teriyaki Ribs (the chops were ok, but I loved the ribs!). We then had some coconut cookies, a Fujinoya special chocolate cake and an Americano. Like traditional Japanese cakes, the chocolate cake wasn’t too sweet at all - and I loved it!
The verdict? While I did expect to see more intricately designed Japanese cakes, the place (interiors, staff and food) did not disappoint. Another cozy café added to my must-return list.
Home alone. Fever. Cough. Colds.
Tea with Ginger. Two movies.
The movie was unexpectedly focused on physical intimacy and obviously made for an older audience. I liked that it embraced the topic quite explicitly in a hilarious and sometimes clumsy manner. Another good thing about the movie was that it stars Meryl Streep. Yes, I am a big fan since The Devil Wears Prada. So despite some yuckily candid scenes like the one involving her and a banana, I give this movie a four.
Four out of Five stars.
Liam Neeson played an Air Marshal who received text messages demanding $150 million or someone on the flight will die everyone 20seconds. The film admittedly kept me in an upright position for most of the 1h 45m that it was playing. The first twist was clever, but hopes of another like it weren’t fulfilled. While I had a lot of unanswered questions that gnawed on my growing disappointment, the finale of the movie made the whole film just .. Bad!

Found a few photos from my first trip to S Korea. Experiencing some serious heartache right about now.

A local store within the Doña Josefa Paras Garcia Heritage Park in the little town of Dumanjug (an hour’s drive from the city) boasts of having the best halo-halo in Cebu.
Manila only for a day and it’s raining cats and dogs. Bummer! Had to have my favorite Carrot Prince Muffin and Cafe Americano from the Royal Touch (Resorts World) to brighten the mood.
• Lovely fixtures on my way to breakfast
• The water’s too cold for me

Fast forward to now and my not-so-little-baby is turning 6 years! in a couple of month’s time - that is two thousand one hundred ninety two days of stories, laughter, adventures, arguments, 6 kisses, bear hugs, unending questions, overflowing creativity and I love you’s.
Tuesday night, I met up with some college friends for an impromptu reunion at Ila Puti (IT Park, Cebu). Between seven people, we shared their Bibimbap, Beef Stroganov, Grilled Pork Belly, Phoenix Mandarin Salad and Grilled Chikari (my personal favorite).
The verdict? Even after 10 years, this place continues to be one of my go-to restaurants whenever I am in need of good food and chilled out ambience. The only disappointing part would be the inconsistency in service. On some days, the servers are ready and eager to serve with smiles, however, there are also times when service is irritably slow that it could take you up to 15 minutes to get a glass of water or get the bill.
